The capital of Cuba is just a godsend for autoist and historian. On the streets of Havana one can find almost all models of cars ever produced in the world starting from the 40-50-ies of the last century. Here you can find classic Cadillacs and Lincolns which celebrated already their 50th anniversary, veterans of the roads Plymouths and Packards. At that we should do justice to their owners; all cars are in excellent condition. Engines operate like clockwork, the sides of the cars are polished shining chrome.
More than 50 years ago when Havana streets were infested with American cars the United States imposed a blockade on Cuba. It seemed that now all end-of-age cars will go to a landfill. But nothing of the kind. Cubans have managed to maintain their steeds in good health. Now the Americans come to Cuba and ask Cubans to sell their great rarities for big money.
